Scathing Rebuttal to Ogungbangbe: You Lack Credibility to Malign Wole Oke, Says Former College Director Dipo Omotosho

Mr. Dipo Omotosho, has risen in staunch defense of Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke following recent remarks made by the Osun State Commissioner for Business and Empowerment, Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe. In a no-holds-barred reaction, Omotosho described Ogungbangbe’s comments as “irresponsible, unprovoked, and unbecoming of a public official.”

The controversy erupted after Ogungbangbe’s appearance on Fresh FM, where he made veiled insinuations about Hon. Oke’s political moves and questioned the lawmaker’s commitment to the people of Ijesaland. But Omotosho, who has closely followed the trajectory of Hon. Oke’s public service, did not mince words in condemning the Commissioner’s outburst.

“Ogungbangbe has no moral standing to cast aspersions on Hon. Wole Oke,” Omotosho stated. “This is a man who only approaches the lawmaker when he is in desperate need, whether it's for a car or political favor. Now he turns around to insult him on public radio. That’s not only hypocritical; it’s disgraceful.”

Omotosho criticized the pattern of appointments in the current Osun State adminipstration, warning against rewarding loyalty over merit. “We can’t keep handing out leadership positions like party souvenirs,” he said. “When competence is ignored in favor of sycophancy, the people suffer. Look around: our roads are crumbling, schools are understaffed, hospitals are gasping, and yet we’re spending precious airtime attacking a federal lawmaker who has consistently delivered.”

Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency and chairing the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, recently made headlines for exiting the PDP and aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Omotosho clarified that the decision was not rash but a product of wide consultation and a commitment to securing tangible development for Ijesa North.

He emphasized that Oke’s political future remains speculative and should not be distorted by idle chatter. “There is no room for independent candidacy under our constitution. If Hon. Oke chooses to run for any office in the future, it will be through proper political channels, not through street gossip or radio jabs,” Omotosho said.

He praised voices of reason like Mayowa Adejorin who have acknowledged that Hon. Oke has made no declarations about future ambitions, choosing instead to focus on his current mandate in the National Assembly.

“In a time when many politicians are obsessed with optics and self-promotion, Hon. Wole Oke stands out by quietly building lives, empowering communities, and legislating with integrity,” Omotosho concluded. “If others could follow his example, maybe Osun would finally begin to reflect the dreams of its people.”
