STATE HOUSE — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended his scheduled trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the G20 Summit, and to Luanda, Angola, for the AU–EU Summit, following fresh security concerns in Kebbi and Kwara States.
The President made the decision after receiving distress reports on the kidnapping of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the bandits’ attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
Responding to a request from the Kwara State Governor, President Tinubu has ordered the military and police to deploy additional personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area. He also directed security forces to hunt down the attackers and restore calm immediately.
The President awaits detailed security reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, and from the Police and DSS regarding the Eruku attack.
Tinubu reaffirmed his instruction to all security agencies to do everything possible to rescue the abducted schoolgirls and return them home safely.
